NEW
March 4, 18th, April 1, 15, 22th, 6 to 9 pm at the Arlington Clubhouse, 1120 Arlington Blvd, El Cerrito
This five session ham (amateur) radio license class will allow you to operate a wide array of more capable radios for longer distance communications. These are the radios KARO ECHO uses to bridge neighborhoods, contact the city EOC and other communities.
KARO ECHO (Kensington Amateur Radio Operators, El Cerrito Ham Operators) is a local nonprofit working with our Fire Department and CERT organization to empower the community with radio communication skills for disaster preparedness, such as an earthquake, where other forms of communication are not functional. In that case, ham radio and personal radios may be one of the only reliable means of communication.
Our mission is to provide skilled radio operators who can deliver reliable and effective radio communications for the El Cerrito and Kensington communities. We are creating and maintaining the radio infrastructure and trained residents we will need to communicate within neighborhoods and to the city Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
KARO ECHO can be reached by email at
info@karoecho.net or by mail at P.O Box 2025, El Cerrito, CA 94530-3651
