Walnut Creek Mini Bus
Walnut Creek Mini Bus is a 6-passenger city vehicle. The Mini Bus is helpful for people who do not use rideshare services.
Mini Bus drivers provide rides to locations only in Walnut Creek on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from our first pick up starting at 9 am and our last pick up scheduled at 2 pm (see below for how to schedule a Mini Bus ride).
Mini Bus Program Eligibility
To use the Walnut Creek Mini Bus, you must be:
- A Walnut Creek resident
- 60+ years of age
- Adult 18+ (with a disability/ health condition that prevents using regular transportation)
- Must have your own mobile phone and a valid email address
- Comfortable boarding vehicles (including SUVs and vans) without assistance
Schedule a ride
To schedule a ride with the Mini Bus, call the reservation line at (925) 256-3533 between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., two to seven business days before the ride needed. For example, calls should be made on Fridays for Tuesday rides and calls for Thursday should be made by Tuesday.
Please make sure to leave a voice message if you do not reach a dispatcher. Rides are not set until a dispatcher speaks with you and confirms the schedule. For a ride the day after a holiday, call us on the last business day before the holiday.
Here is the information we need:
- Let us know if this ride is one way or round trip
- First ride: Pick-up time, Pick address and Drop- off address
- Second ride: Pick up time, Pick-up address and Drop- off address
- Any notes for the driver
Sample ride reservation:
Ride 1: Pick up from home at 10:10am, drop off at Civic Park Community Center.
Ride 2: Pick up from Civic Park Community Center at 1:30pm, drop off at Home.
Notes: Has a walker and will need to store it in the trunk.
Cost
The Mini Bus Program is free for 2025.
Rules and Policies
- All riders must meet eligibility requirements.
- 1 Round trip ride per day (Rides are available based on driver availability)
- All riders must self-evaluate their health before their ride. Cancel the ride if you feel fever or flu symptoms.
- If you need more than a helping hand to board or exit the van, an aide or caretaker is required to ride with the individual to provide assistance.
- Service animals are welcome, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Mini Bus is not wheelchair accessible. Foldable wheelchairs are accepted, rider must have a caretaker with them to assist with wheelchair and helping rider in and out of the vehicle.
- You must make your reservations two business days before your ride. Call to make reservations between 9:00am to 10:00am.
- The Mini Bus closes when extreme weather prevents a safe driving environment.
- Riders must cancel their ride at least 1 business day in advance, if needed
- Must be comfortable boarding vehicles (including SUVs and vans) without assistance
