Walnut Creek Senior Travel

Our Senior Travel program has exciting opportunities for adults ages 50 and better. We’ve designed this program to meet a variety of interests and comfort levels. Take a day trip that explores a Bay Area city, like San Francisco or Santa Cruz. Pack your bags and visit a charming U.S. city on our domestic extended trips. Or take a longer vacation to international locales. Enjoy new experiences and meet new people from your community and around the world.

We will update you about new day trips and extended travel when you sign up for our mailing list.

Travel Club Membership

Pay $15 for a Travel Club membership and receive discounts on day trips. Keep in mind: The Travel Club membership is different from the Walnut Creek Senior Club membership. You must pay for a Travel Club membership to get discounted pricing on day trips.

Day Trips and Extended Travel

We have day trips and extended travel scheduled throughout the year. Create an account and browse the 50+ section to register. You can also register for day trips by phone. Call (925) 295-1490 Monday through Friday from 10am to 2pm.

Walking Levels

Each trip includes walking level information. This helps you determine the best trip for your interests. We rate trips on a scale from Level 1 to Level 5. Learn more about each walking level.

Cost

All day trip and extended travel costs include round-trip transportation and gratuity. The Travel Club membership offers discounted member pricing for all local day trips.

Cancellation Policy

We have a strict no refund policy. If you want to cancel and you have another person who can take your place, contact our office at (925) 295-1490. You can also email artsrec@walnutcreek.org. Once the substituted guest registers for the trip, we will withdraw the original patron and process a full refund. We process refunds within three weeks.

Learn more about the Egyptians, from Tutankhamen to Nefertiti, as you step through time in the Rosicrucian Museum in San Jose. Your self-guided visit should take about 1 and a half hours! Once you have finished your walk through the pyramids and tombs full of history, on the same grounds, you can take time to wander out onto the rolling green lawns and colorful showy blooms of the Municipal Rose Garden. This garden has been named "America's Best Rose Garden" and with more than 3,500 plantings and 189 varieties featured annually, there is hardly a day that passes when some species is not in full bloom.

 

Finally, you will be taken to the long awaited, vibrant, Italian market, Eataly! With 3 floors of delicacies, from an entire floor of wine, cheese counters, real Italian style pizza stalls, gelato and other delicious desserts, Eataly has over 10,000 products imported straight from Italy. You’ll be saying “Mangia!” with every bite. Enjoy 2 hours of time on your own to explore the market which features a casual dining setting for you to enjoy a no-hosted lunch with multiple choices for any appetite. 

 

Cost Includes: Transportation by Luxury Motorcoach, Driver Gratuity, Museum Admission, Free Time at Eataly (No-Hosted Lunch) & Free Time at the Municipal Rose Garden. Lunch will not be provided. Level 1 walking tour. Departure is from Heather Farm Lot 2. Email with logistics will be sent to guests 7 days prior to departure.
