Walnut Creek Senior Travel

Our Senior Travel program has exciting opportunities for adults ages 50 and better. We’ve designed this program to meet a variety of interests and comfort levels. Take a day trip that explores a Bay Area city, like San Francisco or Santa Cruz. Pack your bags and visit a charming U.S. city on our domestic extended trips. Or take a longer vacation to international locales. Enjoy new experiences and meet new people from your community and around the world.

We will update you about new day trips and extended travel when you sign up for our mailing list.

Travel Club Membership

Pay $15 for a Travel Club membership and receive discounts on day trips. Keep in mind: The Travel Club membership is different from the Walnut Creek Senior Club membership. You must pay for a Travel Club membership to get discounted pricing on day trips.

Day Trips and Extended Travel

We have day trips and extended travel scheduled throughout the year. Create an account and browse the 50+ section to register. You can also register for day trips by phone. Call (925) 295-1490 Monday through Friday from 10am to 2pm.

Walking Levels

Each trip includes walking level information. This helps you determine the best trip for your interests. We rate trips on a scale from Level 1 to Level 5. Learn more about each walking level.

Cost

All day trip and extended travel costs include round-trip transportation and gratuity. The Travel Club membership offers discounted member pricing for all local day trips.

Cancellation Policy

We have a strict no refund policy. If you want to cancel and you have another person who can take your place, contact our office at (925) 295-1490. You can also email artsrec@walnutcreek.org. Once the substituted guest registers for the trip, we will withdraw the original patron and process a full refund. We process refunds within three weeks.

Day 1 || Wednesday, November 29

  • Board your luxury motorcoach from Heather Farm park in Walnut Creek and depart by 9:30 am.
  • You will have a 1-hour comfort stop in Salinas, this quick stop will let you have time to pick out a snack, drink and stretch your legs before getting back on the bus and heading onward to the Cambria Pines Lodge, for your overnight stay.
  • Once we arrive, you will check-in and have about 2 hours to rest and unpack before you will meet your group for a private buffet banquet in the beautiful Sycamore Room.
  • Your dinner will include bread, Caesar salad, seasonal veggies, roasted butternut squash, pappardelle pasta, creamy chicken marsala, with choice of soft drink, coffee or tea and dessert.
  • Once your dinner has concluded, explore the Cambria Christmas Markets, which are located on the hotel grounds.
  • The 2022 map (CLICK HERE) shows all the fun Holiday themed activities, vendors and snacks that are available for sale, as well as a Light Labyrinth featuring several fun lighted displays and structures. You will be able to enjoy the markets until you retire for the evening. 

 

Day 2 || Thursday, November 30

 

  • Enjoy your morning with a complimentary hot Breakfast Buffet from 7:30am-8:45am before your board the bus to Hearst Castle.
  • You will arrive to Hearst Castle at the visitor's center, where you will board your shuttle up to the entrance of the majestic castle. You will have a reserved tour of the Grand Rooms, which features the Assembly Room, Refectory, Billiard Room, Theater, Gardens, Neptune Pool and Roman Pool.
  • After your tour you will have time to check out the Café and order a snack for the journey home.
  • You will depart Hearst Castle by 12:30pm.
  • You will have 1 comfort stop on your way home; your approximate arrival time is 6:30pm.

Please Note: Cambria Pines Lodge rooms will be on the 1st and 2nd floor. The rooms do not offer a mini-fridge or microwave. Cambria Pines property is Non-Smoking, anyone caught smoking on the property will incur a fine. Hearst Castle tour will be a 2/3 of a mile walk and will have 140 steps, up and down, throughout.

Your Holiday Overnight will include: Luxury motorcoach transportation, driver gratuity, comfort stops enroute, accommodations at the Cambria Pines Lodge, private buffet banquet, admission to the Cambria Christmas Markets, complimentary hot breakfast at the hotel, and admission to Hearst Castle with Grand Rooms Tour.

Pickup Location: Heather Farm Park Lot 2 (by Softball Fields/across from the Heather Farm community center)

  • Depart Hotel by 9:15am
  • Arrive toHearstCastle by 10am

  • Arrive back to Heather Farm Park at approximately 6:30pm

 

 

 

Travel Insurance Information

 

Travel insurance cost is $60/per person

  • Pricing does not include travel insurance.
  • If you would like to purchase travel insurance, you mustfirstsign-up for the trip andthencall Lisa Mittone.
  • Travel Insurance is only valid for those cancelling for a medical emergency that effects themselves or immediate family member (child, sibling, parent, spouse/registered domestic partner).
  • For those who do not purchase travel insurance and have to cancel for a medical emergency, no refunds will be issued.
