Meditations in Nature was inspired by my recent experiences with Zen Meditation and teaching the mind to become aware and present in the moment. How do artists capture the moment in nature? What is their relationship to nature, the natural world and how they depict it? Artworks selected for this exhibition are curious, meditative, contemplative and created by Walnut Creek’s talented Center for Community Arts students and instructors.
This exhibition is an investigation of the natural worlds flora and fauna through a variety of different mediums. From Linda Huffman’s careful and detailed observation to capture her surroundings in her paintings to Janet Moore’s slow methodical process of weaving intricate images of her encounters in nature, the artists selected for this exhibition go down their own path in expressing their personal relationship to our natural world.
