Special meeting this month - CERT presentation: Experiences During Deployment: North Bay Fires

presented by Erica Iwinski, BV CERT Animal Lead

Erica spent 25 days over a period from Nov. 8 - Jan. 4 at the Camp Fire. This was just the latest deployment for Erica. She has been at disasters in California and other parts of the United States as a member of several different teams she’s trained with for many years. Her experience involves different kinds of disasters, different team protocols, and conditions from most primitive to very comfortable.

She’s going to talk about:

  • Deployment; what to take, expect, and how to act.
  • How to work with convergent or spontaneous volunteers in our Walnut Creek staging areas using “just-in-time-training”.
  • Lessons learned from the Camp Fire.

Bancroft Village Club House holds about 70 people, but close parking is at a premium. Car pooling when possible is suggested.
