Adaptive and Inclusive Camps

Specialized Summer Fun!

The City of Walnut Creek offers specialized summer camps for participants with developmental and intellectual disabilities ages 5 to 22. Our camp counselors are trained in positive behavior support, strength-based approaches, and adapted activity facilitation to create fun, safe, and age-appropriate activities for campers. These activities are structured to encourage positive interactions with peers while promoting social skills, independence, physical fitness, personal safety, emotional well-being, and community integration.

Depending on their age, campers are supervised at either a 3:1, 4:1, or 5:1 ratio. If a camper requires more advanced support with eating, toileting, or behavior management they must attend camp with an aide. The City of Walnut Creek does not provide 1:1 aides for registered participants. Learn more about our aide and safety protocols.
